The Speakers' Corner Toastmasters Club at MetLife in Bridgewater, New Jersey
Invites You to Visit us and learn how You Can Improve Your Communication and Leadership Skills.

Are you:

  • Fearful of speaking in front of others?
  • Having trouble framing your ideas into an effective message?
  • Looking to build on your current speaking skills?
  • Looking to refine or retain newly learned speaking skills?

Whatever your needs, Toastmasters can help you.

Toastmasters International Mission:
Provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth.

Practice is the key to learning new skills and retaining skills. And, at Speakers' Corner, everyone gets the chance to speak at every meeting. How?

  • Give a formal speech from the Communications and Leadership Manual that each new member of Toastmasters receives from Toastmasters International. Each speech teaches you an important skill in public speaking. The speeches are short: From 5 to 10 minutes, depending on the skill you are mastering.
  • Give an impromptu speech of 2 to 3 minutes as part of Table Topics. The Table Topics Master will give you a topic to speak about and you address the topic in front of the club.
  • Take a role in the meeting.
    • Preside over the meeting as Toastmaster.
    • Provide topics for fellow members to address as Table Topics Master.
    • Be the Word master. Give us the word of the day and check for word crutches.
    • Be a Speech Evaluator. Give valuable feedback to the day's speaker.
    • Be the Timer. Keep track of people's time at the podium. A key to effective speaking is to convey your message in the allotted time.
    • Evaluate the entire meeting as the General Evaluator. What went well? What could be done better?

At Speakers' Corner , you learn at your own pace. We will never force you to speak until you feel you are ready. We want you to feel comfortable at the podium. We want you to achieve your goals . And, we do this in a warm, supportive atmosphere that builds your confidence while offering you constructive feedback on how to improve your skills.
